Living ancient language.

Burushaski language is considered to be a unique and among the most ancient languages of the world. Despite new breakthroughs in ethnographic sciences, Burushaski defies classification and still remains a Language Isolate. Presently it is spoken by the people living in three different valleys of Northern Areas of Pakistan: Hunza, Yasin and Nagar; migrated families to Gilgit and to Kashmir in India also speak this language. Approximately over 150,000 people speak the language. Burushaski has two main dialects spoken in the Hunza valley and the Yasin Valley. The former is divided into two closely related sub-dialects of Hunza and Nagar.

Grammer

Prof. N. Hunzai has worked extensively on Burushaski grammar and created literature in this language in a systematic way, both in the Arabic and roman scripts. Burushaski Research Academy has published eight of his books

The Montreal University invited Prof. Hunzai in 1978 and in 1981to the university, where he taught Burushaski language to Prof. E. Tiffou and Prof. Morris, of Department of Philology and Linguistics. The university appointed him as Research Associate for his magnificent services.
